Summer Youth Job Training Program

The City of Lexington’s Summer Youth Job Training Program (SYJTP) offers Lexington youth the opportunity to gain work experience and develop interpersonal skills. Participants will learn and explore career interests for six weeks during the summer. Local businesses and community organizations join our public-private partnership by serving as worksites for 300 youth who are rising 10th, 11th and 12th-grade high school students. Youth workers will work part-time, up to 20 hours per week, and earn $15 an hour. The city government pays all youth workers’ salaries.

This program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for 2023-2024 and is administered by Partners for Youth and Division for Youth Services. We encourage youth to access the digital catalogue of our SYJTP partners to learn more about the available worksites prior to applying.

2024 Summer Youth are ready to work, learn, and experience amazing opportunities this Summer. Thank you to our worksite sponsors. Your time and dedication is what we need to prepare our youth for their tomorrow.
